Reddit r/FixedGearBicycle A Comprehensive Guide On How To Set Up A Suicide Hub

Turn a freewheel or sprocket hub into a fixed gear. It's called a suicide hub because the gear is threaded on, with another lock nut following it. This can come off if it's not reinforced extremely well. The biggest danger is for brakeless fixies relying on the fixed gear to stop.

This guide uses loctite, and a comment says you can weld it too.

I have no experience on it, just learned of it yesterday. Proceed with caution.

What we ride: Colby's Klein Quantum

Great pics of a Klein Quantum Race with a sick paint job.

A comment asks about fitting a new bottom bracket in if it's Klein 35mm press fit, but another comment says they dropped that for english threading later in the 90s, including this bike.

Klein Problem 1

Shows Klien's unique bottom bracket, talks about Klein bike history/design.

Klein bikes from the 80's/90's have 2 press fit bearings and a square taper spindle.

Consider just removing the bearing seals and re-greasing instead of removing the bottom bracket.

You can try knocking out the spindle with a hammer (support the frame with wooden blocks).

Paint Servicing. Part Two; Clear Coat Fixing & Scratch Analysis

Video about repairing bike frame clear coat scratches.

Light scratches in clear coat can be polished out with 2000 grit sandpaper.

Heavier scratches through the clear coat to the paint need to be smoothed out, re-painted, and re-coated.

Cracked paint needs to be sanded down and re-painted, re-coated.
